Sagestone Botanicals is a woman-owned small business based in Eugene, Oregon. Created out of necessity for a product without chemicals and fillers it's known for small-batch and artisan style products that “walks its talk” and doesn’t compromise ingredients.
Shortly after the initial launch, the company began experiencing difficulties with product sales. Sagestone hired me to revamp the entire identity, which included building a new website, social media presence, and most importantly an overhaul to the branding itself. Major selling points such as organic, local, small batch weren't making sales and it all came down to one factor: presentation.
I knew right away a modernization was needed to reinforce the product quality and gain shelf appeal. Keeping connection with the truth behind the brand, it was important to hold onto the plant-based nature of the products without alienating the existing customer base.
An unforeseen bonus while working with Sagestone was aiding the organization in earning the Leaping Bunny certification for advocacy and commitment to cruelty-free ingredients.
It was an honor to assist with the process and add the Leaping Bunny logo to the product labeling and website.
Almost immediately, Sagestone saw a surge in interest at local events, increased sales, and has maintained consistent growth on social media platforms.
The original design constricted the overall brand to a limited palette and rigid layout. The rebranding brought in additional color pairings to easily determine the different products. Legibility and shelf appeal being key factors, the colorful designs stand out among others in the category by using color effectively.
